Aziza of CairoDrum Solo 

Brace yourself for Aziza’s Drum Solo—an explosive fusion of rhythm, power, and pure magic! Watch as she brings the drum beats to life with jaw-dropping moves and fiery energy. Every strike of the drum fuels her performance, taking you on an unforgettable journey of passion and precision. This is not just a dance; it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!

SAT. JUNE 7th – 9:15 am – 12:15 pm

Mohamed GharebSa’idi  “sah EE dee” – Mohamed will explain the style of dance and its history and from there will then teach the technique and some choreography. 

Sa’idi is probably the most well known dance of Egypt. The most popular public dance of the Sa’idi is Raqs Assaya (stick dance), whether the Assaya was twirled or held.

You will need an assaya or stick in this class. If you do not have one there will be some available for sale by Diamond Pyramid.

Jill Parker – The Classic Jill Parker experience! 

Immerse yourself in Jill’s masterfully taught bellydance experience. This offering employs across the floor drills and stylized combinations as a means of instilling healthy techniques, sustainable movement, pristine posture, an emphasis on sensuality and embodiment, footwork, striking a healthy balance between effort and ease, and as a means of introducing new movement vocabulary and much, much more. This workshop content applies to dancers of all dance genres.

Dive into the world of traditional Egyptian dance as Aziza teaches you the core techniques, rhythmic moves, and cultural richness of Majanse. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced, you’ll have a blast learning from one of the best. Don’t miss this chance to move, groove, and immerse yourself in the magic of Egyptian dance!

Jacques Al Asmar – Baladi/Pop Expressions and Rhythmic Movements: An immersive experience in the rich tapestry of Egyptian cultural dance! This workshop invites participants of all levels to explore the vibrant movements, traditional rhythms, and captivating history of Egyptian dance forms, specifically Baladi and the mesmerizing art of belly dance (Raqs Sharqi).

Suhaila SalimpourContemporary belly dance choreography with Suhaila Salimpour.

In this workshop, dancers will explore the Salimpour methodology through a dynamic choreography set to a popular song by Mohammad Assaf, Palestinian singer and winner of Arab Idol in 2013 (Dalaou). Focusing on technique, isolation, and rhythm, participants will learn how to apply Salimpour movements to this beautiful song. The session will emphasize musicality, expression, and the cultural context. This workshop is ideal for dancers with a basic to intermediate understanding of belly dance, looking to deepen their technique and expand their Salimpour Method knowledge.

Sonia Ochoa – Drum Solo: Take a bite from some of my favorite drum solo choreographies! We will focus on rhythm identification, body isolations, typical patterns heard in drum solo compositions, stage presence, and some improvisation.

JILL PARKERCome to Mama!

Jill spills the tea. Immerse yourself in stylized and sensuous movement vocabulary, yet more emphasis on technique and expression, decades of insightful philosophies, and finish with a gorgeous flow that sits at the intersection of bellydance and fusion bellydance. Questions about choices in stylizations, technique, vocabulary, history of fusion bellydance, etc are encouraged and welcome. Jill has a knack for masterfully breaking down complex concepts into understandable and attainable movement.  This is the other bellydance workshop you also never knew you needed, lol!

Mohamed GharebShaabi – Get ready to unleash your inner dancer with Mohamed Ghareb in a thrilling Shaabi workshop! Feel the energy of Egypt’s hottest street dance as you master the fun, lively moves and infectious rhythms. Whether you’re new to Shaabi or a dance pro, this fast-paced session will have you hooked and grooving all the way through. Don’t miss the chance to dance, laugh, and vibe to the beat!

Marjhani –  Traditional Style Combos

Traditional Tribal Style is what many equate with dancers at  Renaissance Faires with their earthy desert wanderer vibes. 

All of the combos taught in this class were passed down from dancer to dancer for the past 20 years and are fun and easy to learn! Basic Dance vocabulary is needed for this class but all levels are welcome to attend. These combos can be done alone or in a group and group variations will be touched-on. 

Each combo also has a cue for those who do improvisational dance styles and the cues will be taught with the move.

Sonia OchoaTaqsim, Technique & Improvisation: Breathe and stay present in the moment! In this workshop we will focus on the art of dance improvisation set to solo instrumentation, such as the accordion, oud, kanoun, nay, and violin. Various techniques and fluid movement patterns will be explored.

This workshop is designed for dancers of all levels, from beginners to experienced performers, who are eager to elevate their performance techniques by learning tips on stage presence, audience engagement, and how to convey emotion through movement while emphasizing the importance of musicality and rhythm.
We will explore the key characteristics that define this dance style, including its graceful movements, cultural elements, and expressive storytelling.
