Mohamed GharebSa’idi  “sah EE dee” – Mohamed will explain the style of dance and its history and from there will then teach the technique and some choreography. 

Sa’idi is probably the most well known dance of Egypt. The most popular public dance of the Sa’id is Raqs Assaya (stick dance), whether the Assaya was twirled or held.

You will need an assaya or stick in this class. If you do not have one there will be some available for sale by Diamond Pyramid.

MOHAMED GHAREB is an International dancer, Egyptian Master Teacher, Troupe Director, Choreographer. 

 

Mohamed Ghareb started dancing at the age of 14, and by 16,17 years old he was traveling Internationally to perform with the distinguished “Dervishes of Cairo Troupe”. He had the honor of touring with the group as a very young, but talented, solo leader. After his time with the group, Ghareb worked in Mahmoud Reda’s private folk troupe in which he excelled and demonstrated his capabilities as a soloist in many countries. Today, Mohamed Ghareb is a renowned Egyptian performer, living in Japan. Ghareb’s work has gained international acclaim and he is considered a contemporary master of Tanoura dance. While his performances are visually stunning, they are also a means of preserving and promoting Egyptian culture, honoring the deep religious, cultural, and philosophical roots of the dance. He was given the honor of the name “King of Tanoura” by former Minister of State for Antiquities in Egypt, Dr. Zahi Hawas.

 

Ghareb’s is Native Egyptian An oriental dance (bellydance) instructor, with a deep Artistic novel about the art of Egyptian dance with all its differences, which made him creative in the different style and choreography, He moves with an effortless fluidity, his body telling a story through every precise gesture. His contemporary yet classical Egyptian style makes him versatile enough to captivate any audience. He exudes an undeniable presence on stage—his movements are sharp and powerful yet infused with a deep emotional connection to the music. Each leap seems to defy gravity, and every turn is a whirlwind of energy, effortlessly gliding into the next beat. His facial expressions mirror the rhythm and mood, transforming each performance into an immersive experience for the audience. Whether executing intricate footwork or diving into dramatic extensions, he possesses a magnetic charisma that keeps all eyes on him. His ability to seamlessly transition between styles , demonstrates his technical mastery and adaptability. The audience can feel his passion in every step, his energy resonating through the stage and into the crowd. His dedication to his craft is evident in every fluid motion, making him a captivating performer who leaves a lasting impression.

 

While Mohamed Ghareb is particularly known for his exceptional Tanoura dance, his experience with the the famous Reda Troupe, created by Mr. Mahmoud Reda, helped him develop a deep understanding of Egypt’s vast dance heritage, which influences how he performs and interprets traditional forms. As a prodigy under Mr. Reda, Ghareb learned the importance preserving and innovating Egyptian folkloric dance and he continues to carry forward the rich traditions of Egypt’s dance culture onto global stages while adding his own unique voice and perspective to the art form. Ghareb’s life long contributions have significantly shaped the global perception of Egyptian dance and its cultural significance. Through his performances, workshops, and his dedicated work with creating the “Ghareb Troupe” in Japan, Korea, Venezuela, Chile, Colombia and now continue over the world, he has ensured that Egyptian dance remains an important and respected art form in Egypt and beyond. He continues to inspire a new generation of dancers, preserving the deep traditions of the Egyptian culture.
